Objectives of the "UFI Sustainable Development Award" competition

  • To reward, the best exhibition industry initiatives connected to sustainable development issues as they are related to the current competition theme.
  • To give exhibition professionals the opportunity to exchange interesting and innovative ideas, concepts, techniques and knowledge to related sustainable development issues.
  • To honour those in the exhibition industry who have successfully implemented creative and results-oriented initiatives.

UFI Sustainable Development Awards 2013

The first 2013 competition theme was “Best Reporting on Sustainability”, with the objective of rewarding entries with full and transparent details of their economic, environmental and social activities.
Cape Town International Convention Centre (South Africa) was selected as the winner and La Rural, Predio Ferial Buenos Aires (Argentina) as the finalist. Their entry is available by clicking on their name.

The second 2013 UFI Sustainable Development Award competition theme was “Best innovative environmental initiative”.

Scan Display (South Africa) was selected as the winner and Fira Barcelona (Spain), Freeman (USA) and Fresh Montgomery (UK) as finalists. Their detailed entries are available for downloading by clicking on the respective name.

5 additional entries were selected as examples of best practices in the first round selection process of the competition. They are; ADNEC (UAE), Bella Center (Denmark), CTICC (South Africa), Macau Fair & Trade Association (Macao), and UBM (Global). Each of these is also available by clicking on the respective name.
